NDSU vs.
On a cool, windy night, the North
Dakota State University Bison hosted the South Dakota State University
Jackrabbits. The game began with SDSU
dominating the play. NDSU was unable to
stop the precision passing of the Jackrabbits, especially missing 2 of their
defensive starters. After 25 minutes of
controlling the game, SDSU was able to put a ball over goalkeeper Tom
Erickson’s head from 20 yards out. The
Jackrabbits were unable to score anymore the rest of the half even with
possessing the ball a majority of the time.
The Bison came out of halftime
with a lot more intensity, and it showed.
They took control of the game with stellar passing and movement without
the ball. However, they were unable to
penetrate the SDSU defense. Neither team
was able to put enough passes together to amount to a good attack. That all changed in the 82nd
minute. With NDSU pushing 7 men on
offense, Garett Johnson was able to steal the ball,
dribble past the SDSU sweeper, and finish with a nice shot to tie the
game. The game would end in a tie and moved
the Bison's still-undefeated record to 3-0-2 on the season while SDSU also
remained unblemished at 3-0-1.
