NDSU at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology – October 2, 2005

The Bison brought a fatigued, nicked-up group of eleven players to Rapid City and found a way to defeat the SDSMT Hardrockers 4-1 on an unseasonably warm October afternoon.  The game was high-paced, with both teams played with all the energy they had.  NDSU goalkeeper Nate Fitterer kept busy throughout the match by recording 11 saves.  The only shot that managed to get past him was after miscommunication between two Bison defenders about who would get to a high ball in the penalty area, leaving a SDSMT forward wide open to tap it in.  Unfortunately, the Bison weren’t able to keep all 11 on the field for most of the second half thanks to Nathan Shubert’s bloody nose and Eric Stanley’s hamstring.  However, Shubert’s nose didn’t keep him from scoring all four Bison goals, bringing his season total to eleven (tied for the team lead with Stanley).  Brad Bateman, Dmitri Barabanov and Jesse Masloski recorded an assist each in the game.  The Bison’s record now stands at 5-3-2, while the Hardrockers dropped to 2-8.
